South LA Café’s flagship location at Vermont and Manchester was designed as a community centered café that supports daily operations while reinforcing the café’s role as a neighborhood gathering space. Completed in 2025, the project supports Evermont’s goal of creating accessible, community serving spaces while reflecting South LA Café’s mission of connection, representation, and economic empowerment.
Omgivning served as Tenant Improvement Architect and Interior Designer, creating a flexible interior that balances high volume café service with spaces for meetings and community use. Planning prioritizes clear circulation between ordering, pick-up, retail, and seating, while indoor-outdoor seating engages the existing plaza. Materials layer industrial references with texture, supported by identity colors, local art integration, and planting incorporated into furniture.
A textured dropped ceiling connects the private event room, main seating area, service counter, and retail zone, creating continuity while defining functional spaces.
