Omgivning Joins the 2025 IIDA San Diego Pickleball Tournament

On Friday, April 11, 2025, our team at Omgivning made the trip down to San Diego to join colleagues, friends, and peers from across the design industry for the inaugural IIDA San Diego Pickleball Tournament at The King of Padle.
The event brought together designers, architects, and industry partners for an afternoon of friendly matches and plenty of sideline cheering. While pickleball was the main event, the real highlight was the chance to connect with the San Diego design community in a setting that was all about camaraderie.
Team Omgivning Shows Up in Style
The Omgivning team consisting of, Sergio Cuculiza, Shannon Marks, Jordon Johnson— was joined by Melissa Norlund Sr. Project Manager at Swinerton and her partner Derrick Watkins Principal at Simpson Gumpertz & Heger, for a day of rallying, trading jokes, and celebrating community.
In true Omgivning fashion, we leaned into the spirit of the tournament and had a blast being part of the festivities. To our surprise, our team was even recognized with the award for Best Costume, a playful honor that made the day even more memorable.
Celebrating the Community
Between matches, participants posed for custom trading cards by MADA Productions, gathered at the Pixster photo booth, and refueled with tacos from Gringas Catering. The energy was high, the rallies were lively. The whole event reminded us why opportunities like this matter so much; bringing our community together in ways that are fun, creative, and energizing.
The best part? You can even collect Omgivning’s very own player cards from the tournament. Each one captures a little bit of our team’s spirit from the day, turning us into true pickleball “legends” (at least in card form). We’ll be holding onto ours as a reminder that showing up with energy and creativity is always a win.
